The king under the law
Reads the lesson aloud on this device.
19And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: 20That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.Deuteronomy 17:19-20 · KJV
Authority serves the people under it and answers to God.
Israel’s king had to copy God’s law and read it every day. That kept him from thinking he was above his people. Leaders are under the rules, too.
Check 1The king was above the law.
He had to read and keep it all his days.
Check 2The reading was so his heart would not be:
That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren.
If you set rules anywhere, keep one of them yourself first today.
Only check it if you did it. Nobody sees this but you.
Where do I excuse myself from my own rules?
Write your answer in the journal.
Answer the checks, or play Listen to the end, to finish.
